H5N1 Spread
As of current, the h5n1 virus cannot be spread from human to human, unless in the future the h5n1 virus happens to mutate, it is not spreadable from person to person at this point. The only way one can become infected by the h5n1 virus is through direct contact with the infected bird. For the most part, the World Health Organization is doing its part to monitor these cases of h5n1 in order to prevent the spread and keep up with the possibility of mutation of the virus. If this virus goes through mutation, it will allow the h5n1 virus to spread from person to person. This is a very dangerous thought because if the virus happens to mutate and become able to spread from person to person, it can create a world wide pandemic and cause illness in many different part of the world. As of right now, this is not the case and the bird flu can only be spread from humans making direct contact with the infected bird. In case the virus happens to mutate and it become spreadable amongst humans, the FDA has approved a vaccine which will help put a stop to the pandemic before it has the chance to start. Although this vaccine is not commerically available at the time, in the case that it is needed we should be prepared. If you happen to be concerned about the spread of the h5n1 virus, you can take the precautions of washing your hands frequently.
